KTS making the grade

Colleges and universities are working hard right now to adapt their methods for delivering high quality, higher education while addressing Covid-19 concerns. It seems nearly every day a major college in the US announces their plan for returning to campus this fall. And, every plan is different. A few colleges are opting for a full return to campus, many are offering online only for at least the fall semester and many more are offering a hybrid that gives the option of campus living, but includes social distancing and remote classes, even for students living on campus. These changes to the college experience need planning to ensure the communications infrastructure is in place to effectively deliver quality education.

Four Components Required for Higher Ed to Deliver Quality Learning this Fall:

  1. Cellular Reception. Cellular reception is critical at the best of times. Right now, ensuring that every student, faculty and staff member can get reliable cellular reception everywhere on campus is crucial for safety and for remote learning.
  2. Wireless Access Points. A hybrid solution is highly dependent on reliable internet connectivity. Are you confident your campus can enable students to learn? Wireless access points allow the signal to reach where it needs to be so students can count on their Internet service in order to comply with the restrictions about when and how they can attend classes in person.
  3. Communications Infrastructure Your communications infrastructure is the backbone of your network. It needs to be secure, reliable and scalable. Can your infrastructure scale to meet the needs of this new learning environment? When was the last time your communications infrastructure was evaluated? If it’s been five years, it’s time. Contact KTS, and we can evaluate your backbone and make sure you’ll have one less challenge to meet as you ready your campus for the fall of 2020.
  4. Collaboration Rooms. We design and install collaboration rooms that allow some to gather while others attend virtually (via Zoom or a similar platform). Such solutions enable a collaborative experience in seminar classes despite social distancing requirements.

Getting colleges and universities back to effectively delivering quality education this fall is a big challenge, but reliable communication is not something you can leave to chance. Contact KTS and let us help you make sure that your communications will enable you to make the grade.
