KTS Trial Offer Helps a Merrimack Valley Hospice Improve Cell Reception

The Situation

A hospice care center in the Merrimack Valley had terrible cell service. It was difficult to make calls on any carrier and calls that went through would often drop. It was nearly impossible for patients, staff, families and visitors to use their phones – a frustrating situation for everyone affected. KTS has worked with the health system that the hospice center is part of for decades, so, their IT department recommended the KTS trial Bi-directional amplifier (BDA) offer as a way to find a solution. They reached out to KTS to see if a BDA could fix the problem.

The Work

KTS installed a trial BDA that covered two areas of the building, allowing residents, visitors, family and staff to immediately experience improved cellular coverage. With reliable cell service achieved, the hospice facility requested that KTS extend the BDA coverage to the entire facility. KTS eagerly returned, running cabling throughout the building, installing indoor antennas and an antenna and mast on the roof to ensure the entire building now has reliable cellular coverage.

Challenges

The challenge for KTS was the building’s location; it is located a long way from the carriers’ cell towers. KTS’ experienced technicians successfully adjusted the antennas to secure a strong signal.

Benefits/Impact

Today the hospice facility has reliable cell service, enabling residents, families, staff and visitors to consistently make and receive calls throughout the facility. Reliable communications result in peace of mind as well as improving safety throughout the building and on the grounds. A 30-day no risk BDA trial resulted in happy customers.
